Welcome friends!
Welcome to the homepage of the 46th StuTS (in Bochum, Germany, 18th – 22nd November 2009)
What is StuTS?
The abbreviation ‚StuTS’ stands for ‚Studentische Tagung Sprachwissenschaft’ (students’ conference for linguistics) and refers to a culturally and scientifically oriented linguistic convention. The event is organized for students by students and it adresses everyone who is interested in linguistic studies. There will be speeches, workshops and discussions held by students and national as well as international renowned linguists. The event has taken place every semester since 1987 in various cities in the German-speaking area.
In the winter semester 09/10 Bochum has been chosen as the host for the convention. The 46th StuTS is under the patronage of rector Prof.Dr. Elmar Weiler of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The institute for German language and literature studies, the institute for linguistics, the faculty of philology and the AStA (students’ union executive committee) of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum also support the 46th StuTS. We await approximately 100 to 150 international participants.
StuTS and you:
The StuTS is a very fascinating scientific and cultural event for every student of linguistics or language instruction. It is an inexpensive skill enhancement, an opportunity to get to know interesting people and have fun. The StuTs also provides networking chances with future linguistic scientists.
The 46th StuTS takes place at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum from the 18th to the 22nd November 2009. We want to invite you to attend the event as a…
… 1. participant
Everyone can partake in the 5-day-programme of the 46th StuTS for a low fee (see price table here). You can hear speeches, participate in workshops and we submit you a diversity of free or discounted cultural and culinary offers.
… 2. speaker
As a speaker you present a linguistic topic of your choice to the auditorium or a workgroup (the topic can be derived from term papers, examination topics, your thesis, presentations or private interests and research). You can hold a speech, offer a workshop or a discussion. This is a very good opportunity to get feedback for your current or past projects. Speakers may participate in the whole programme for free.
… 3. host
The fellow students from other cities or foreign countries have to stay in Bochum overnight. It is a traditon that these students get the opportunity to stay overnight at hosts in Bochum. If you can offer one or even more sleeping berths, please contact us.
